Warm pattern is here! But for how long?

I have stopped issuing post everyday. As when I was doing it before they didn't get too many views or comments. This led me to the conclusion that not too many of y'all really want to see them. So I'm going to revert to doing a couple of post a week. Unless the setup or conditions require more in the way of a daily post!

We have the warm front lifting through the region. Allowing for mild air to finally work into the region . Radar is showing a mix of a little bit of snow and freezing rain/ sleet ahead of the warm front. With rain trailing behind it. The radar is more bark than bite, as the mid-levels are quite dry, so rain won't be super widespread and will be more scattered in nature.

Looking at the charts above We can see the northern stream is active with several systems approaching our region. For the most part, the center of these shortwaves should pass to our north and west. This will keep us on the warm side Allowing us to see a mix today , Upstate Northern New York State across Vermont New Hampshire into Central New England there could be measurable mixing; creating icy conditions in these areas For tonight and to tomorrow. and then a chance for a bit of widespread rain for tomorrow. High pressure sets up overhead for Thursday providing a fairly tranquil and dry day. Then on Friday a shortwave will roll through with a leading warm front. with the warm front temperatures will become quite mild for this time of year and should be well above average. Also with the front We will see widespread periods of rain move into and through the region. The trailing cold front Will come through Friday evening into Saturday morning. Temperatures behind the front will drop a little bit but they still should stay generally above freezing So we can expect a little bit of rain with the cold frontal passage.

Our next system will roll through the great lakes Saturday morning into Sunday. This will keep us on warm side of things So we can expect rain to move through the region with the warm front during this time.  The trailing cold front will come through on Sunday, Temperatures are going to plummet behind the front The rain will be exiting but we could see some rain with  a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain in the higher elevations like the Adirondacks Berkshires greens and whites. With the cold air streaming over lake Ontario and lake Erie lake effect snow is likely to start up once again downwind of both lakes. This should probably start on Sunday afternoon and go into Monday. For the rest of the region away from the Great Lakes High pressure should ensure a mostly dry day.

The return of cold For the second half of January still looks to be on track So we are going to lose some snow for the next 5-7 days. Some areas will end up losing what snow they have. Other areas will hang on to the snow. This will be especially true for areas that have a very deep snow pack.

Another thing to keep in mind is that while we're gonna be warming up temperatures at night will cool a bit after sunset, allowing surfaces to possibly freeze up a little bit leading to patches of ice and black ice so be careful if you're out and about walking or driving.

  2. We have enough snow to absorb the rain, this time.

  3. I feel like there’s got to be a way to support you better than reading and sharing. Patreon? Substack? (Those are the only ones I can think of right now). I bet you have a bigger community behind than you realize :)
