Severe storms are dropping south and east out of Canada; as they rotate around the high pressure ridge, ring of fire. This is a mesoscale convective complex.Which is a type of mesoscale convective system that I talked about the other day. The system dropping out of Canada has a history of damaging winds, Downpours, and hail.
The atmospheric conditions overhead are more than sufficient to support severe weather during the overnight across New York State into new England. The high dew point and temperatures will continue to destabilize the atmosphere, creating quite a bit of instability. There is a good chance the line will expand as it moves into our region. As this drops through New York State into New England we will see a line of severe thunderstorms move through during the overnight into Sunday morning. This will be capable of strong damaging winds with gusts of over 70 miles an hour possible, some frequent lightning, heavy downpours and medium to perhaps large hail will also be possible, but the large hail should be isolated.
Here is a look At the current convective outlook from the storm prediction center (SPC).

Night time severe weather is especially dangerous; because many people are sleeping. So have a way to be alerted if severe weather approaches your area.
Stay safe!
Rebecca, your forecast for yesterday was perfect. It was hot but a nice breeze. The E.Z. Ups were up mostly for protection from the sun. That was a good thing because that Sun would cook a person.Everyone made out OK with the exception of one person, can you guess who that might be.Yes I put our chairs on the edge of the awning But as the hours passed and the Sun streaked across the sky I didn’t make the needed adjustment. Two of my sisters both nurses got up and said Alan you've melted your half your face and look at your *’”*@ing arm.I didn’t even notice,it was a gradual process.I stood up to move and as I started to no feel my legs I realized I Had not drank a drop of water in almost 18 hours.I still am strong enough to lock my legs and sit in the newly placed chair.I had waters flying at me and was surprised how quickly the first two of five went down.I could hear my sisters,my son and wife, all Nurses discussing the situation and heard the words Banana Bag.I couldn’t say the word No fast enough as water started pouring out from my nose. There was fruit Kabobs still available and they were squeezed into a half bottle of water. It was presented to me along with the crushed fruit. It drank the fruity water and disposed of said fruit. When questioned why I did not consume it, I said not one of you were wearing gloves.Nobody else knew except the mentioned Medical Team and the party continued.I had globs of Aloe
ReplyDeleteon my right cheek, forehead, neck arm and in my hair. A Bear showed up had a few cheeseburgers,Hot Dogs he may have got into the crushed fruit. We were in the hills and he just smelled food and wanted to check out the noise.I hope he wasn’t after the smell of my cooked flesh.
The adults all cleared out. The graduates had their horseshoe and cornhole tournament's.They had their fire at dark. A wonderful way to send off some of the Hurricanes finest.
I was out cold by 10 and didn’t move until 7.The rain you said may come in late came in late I don’t know how late but it stopped by 8,the sun popped out and by 9:30 the Temp had risen to 86.7 from 73.
73 was the overnight low and with the humidity at 93% outside and 66 inside, the A/C set on 67 I shouldn’t be surprised that our super wonderful windows are completely fogged up and that there is steam now rising from our lawn.I mean puddle. Please remember,YOU ARE APPRECIATED.Thank You for the perfect forecast.
You're welcome Alan. It sounds like a party for the ages and one to remember, sounds like everyone had a good time Including the bear. I hope your sunburn gets better quickly.

ReplyDeleteThey are a pain.
ReplyDeleteWe were camping on top of a mountain in Readsboro VT (Southern Vermont) sans internet connection over the weekend, hence we were blindsided this morning (Sunday, 2025-06-22) by thunderstorms. They ended by 9am and in the latter part of the afternoon, it got pretty darn breezy. Just some obs, here.
ReplyDeleteI hope everybody was okay. I've been in many severe weather situations And they're always dangerous and are scary. These types of complexes are very difficult to forecast But I did mention the possibility of one dropping down through the region. NOAA weather radios are always something you should have. They even make some that operate with crank so you can use them in remote areas without electricity.
