09/26/2025

Here are the surface chart, radar and continental IR satellite.

All of these are showing the cold front that went through is sitting off the coast Leaving The region with variable sun and clouds with Isolated showers. The rain associated with the cold front is off the coast but we can see Invest 94L approaching the Bahamas. Surface chart also called shows that cold front to our north in Canada. Today is going to feature seasonally mild temperatures.

Saturday we will see clouds increasing over the middle Atlantic into southern New England as some tropical Moisture pushes north, This moisture really isn't associated with 94L. Over martin New York State and New England there will be more in the way of sun.  Also on Saturday  we're going to see high pressure drop south out of Canada. The high pressure Is going to keep most of that tropical moisture to our south. But some of it will reach into southern New Jersey Maryland and Delaware Where half an inch to around an inch will be possible starting Saturday evening into Sunday. Further north and west for places like Philadelphia Long Island New York city rain amounts of 1⁄10 of an inch  to perhaps as much as 1⁄4 of an inch in spots will be possible. north and west of this line there shouldn't be much if any rain.

This high pressure is going to have a lot of substaining power And will remain in control of our weather for at least next week. This will allow dry air out of Canada to move into the region.

So in spite of the rain you'll have seen the last couple of days; we are going to return to an extended time of dry weather that is going to exasperate the drought conditions across the region and allow them to continue to get worse. This is also going to shield us from 94L locking it out of the Middle Atlantic and Northeast. The next 6-10 days are going to be dry and seasonally near average.

I will have a separate post on the tropics later

  1. Well, the rain came and left, the puddles that formed are already just dark spots. The rain we received was welcome but probably did not do much on the drought meter. The High Pressure coming down from Canada will keep the two tropical development's far from the Northeast.
Will the amount of rain we did get help with the foliage,we are looking at some ugly brown leaves that are still on the trees. The leaf peepers may not have much to look at.Hmmm, that just might keep me from taking a Very Long ride out through N.Y. or Vt.or both.
