 The dry weather pattern continues.

The center of the high pressure is heading towards southeast Canada But we're still under it's influence and it will keep today partly cloudy with seasonal temperatures and mostly dry conditions. There is a little disturbance off the coast, that will increase clouds over southeast New England. I can't completely rule out a rain shower. But most of us should stay completely dry.

Tonight depending on cloud cover, y'all in northern New York State and northern New England will have a chance to see the northern lights.

The seasonal temperatures and low humidity will continue for the next couple of days. Then the 1st of 2 cold fronts will approach Wednesday night and move across on Thursday. This will be a fairly strong cold front that will bring rain showers and thunderstorms. Ahead of the front a southwest flow will increase our temperatures and raise humidity levels for the second half of the week. Behind the cold front much cooler weather will move back in for Friday and the upcoming weekend. For Friday, the cooler air flowing over lake Erie and lake Ontario will likely kick off lake effect rain showers off the lakes; The rest of the region will be dealing with unsettled conditions as well on Friday. Then on Saturday into Sunday a secondary cold front will move through. This will bring reinforcing cool air  and unsettled conditions for the weekend. The weekend won't be a wash-out, but everyone will have a chance for some rain. The coolish conditions will continue for the first half of next week

This general pattern of strong ridging in the western US and persistent troughing over the eastern US looks to continue for the next few weeks. We will have days that are warmer than others; but I do think, unless something weird happens we are done with the 90 ° F temperatures.

Have a great Labor Day!
