The threat of widespread severe storms has expanded East!

This post is an update on severe potential.

How quickly morning clouds give way. There is a decent chance that severe weather will pop up during the afternoon and evening, due to the warm and very humid air.

The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the Enhanced Risk into the DMV region.

The main hazards will be damaging wind gusts up to 75 mph, heavy rain that could lead to localized flash flooding, hail, and isolated tornadoes. Frequent vivid lightning will also be a concern.

The threat for severe thunderstorms will continue into the evening before gradually decreasing after sunset.

North of the Enhanced Risk the severe storms should be more isolated.
