 Getting rain and some thunder.

The surface chart shows the prefrontal trough moving over New York state and Pennsylvania behind it is the cold front It will be coming through tonight and tomorrow. The radar shows widespread scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms associated with the prefrontal trough working their way east over New York State and Pennsylvania. Ahead of the cold front Temperatures are hot with moderate levels of humidity. This will help support the development of thunderstorms this afternoon and today evening.

Widespread severe thunderstorms are not expected. But there could be a few isolated storms That reach strong to severe levels With the main danger being Strong gusty winds small hail and heavy rain. Some of the thunderstorms could have quite a bit of lightning with them. Some could see a few rounds Of heavy rain that could lead to some localized flooding concerns.  The Storm Prediction Center does have a Marginal Risk for severe weather over part of New England back down into the northern Middle Atlantic Region. The cold front will swing across New York state and much of Pennsylvania later today and tonight. This will likely bring another round of rain showers and some thunderstorms but the thunderstorms shouldn't be as robust as they were during the afternoon into the evening. Tonight and during the overnight those behind the cold front will be cooling off and humidity will be lessening. But out ahead of the front it will continue to be warm and humid.

Tonight into tomorrow, The prefrontal trough with  the thunderstorms and scattered rain showers will make it into eastern New England and the northern Middle Atlantic Region including the I-95 Corridor. Again widespread severe storms are unlikely but a few storms could reach and become strong to severe with the danger of strong gusty winds associated with some downburst. Again widespread severe storms are unlikely but a few storms could become strong to severe with the danger of strong gusty winds associated with some downburst, hail and heavy downpours. Some storms could have frequent lightning due to humidity levels. The trailing cold front moves through during the afternoon into the evening. There once again could be a few rain showers and thunderstorms with it but they shouldn't reach severe limits.

Friday We'll see the cold front pushing east as high pressure starts to build into the region this will bring cooler temperatures and less humidity for friday. For Saturday and Sunday We will still be under the influence of the high pressure. But the high pressure will be shunted to our north and east. This will create a flow That brings in warmer temperatures and back into New York state and Pennsylvania. While much of new England And the northern middle Atlantic region deal with an easterly flow Keeping temperatures a bit cooler than they are over the interior northeast. Both Saturday and Sunday most of the region should be dry with only a chance for some isolated showers and thunderstorms.  Mid morning into early afternoon on Sunday a cold front will be approaching out of Canada and the Great Lakes. This will bring with it a chance for some rain showers and thunderstorms into New York State and  northwest Pennsylvania. The cold front will continue to move through Sunday night and Monday with rain showers and some thunderstorms working away across the rest of Pennsylvania and New England As well as the northern Middle Atlantic. Tuesday will see another cold front work its way through bringing widespread scattered rain showers and thunderstorms Some of these thunderstorms could be on the strong too severe side. Wednesday will see high pressure building in much cooler and less humid conditions

I will be posting on Erin and a little bit on the long range later today
