We have a cold front dropping south and east out of Canada, along with high pressure pushing east and our Middle Atlantic storm moving through. This snow/mix will continue into the overnight.
Tomorrow
afternoon, we will see low pressure moving into the Midwest, with a leading
warm front and trailing cold front. Ahead of the system snow/mix will break out
over southwest Pennsylvania late tomorrow afternoon. Then during the evening
the precipitation will advance north and east across
western Pennsylvania into Western New York State, snow amounts will be light
across Pennsylvania, and western New York State generally a dusting to an inch
or two at most. For western Pennsylvania, the precipitation looks to wind down
late Wednesday evening to around midnight.
For 7 to 10 PM
Wednesday, Central New York State, Mohawk Valley and Hudson Valley will see
some light initial snow, maybe 1-2 inches before a quick change to a mix of sleet
and or freezing rain. The same can be
said for southern and central New England, Connecticut and Massachusetts snow
looks to start after 10 PM, these areas look to see snow start then as the warm
air overruns the cold air, it will quickly change to a mix, many of these areas
will see a dusting to an inch or two. But the higher elevations like Catskills, Tug Hill, Adirondacks, Berkshires and Green Mountains could see 2-4 inches of snow before
a change over to sleet and freezing rain. These higher elevations could see around
1/10” of ice. The farther north you are
the more snow you will see, northern New York State near the Canadian Border,
northern Vermont, Northern New Hampshire, Central Maine look to see mostly snow
with 4-8 inches possible, but some mixing of sleet could occur even here, far
northern Maine as well as the Whites and Presidential range looks to see 8 to 12+ inches. The Seacoast of Maine and New Hampshire 1-3
inches of snow with a much better chance for sleet and freezing rain.
As warmer
air continues to move in, it will eventually make it down to the surface, this
will change any mix to rain for much of the region. The exception being those
far northern areas. Lingering snow
showers and mixing for Thursday morning, this should become scattered as the
day goes on, with things wrapping up over Maine Thursday evening.
Then over the weekend we will see a storm approach, that will transfer to the Coast and likely become a nor’easter. I will have more on this tomorrow.
Thank you.
