05/09/2025

Today we have a couple areas of low pressure that are moving off the and away from the coast. With rain along the trough axis that is pushing through eastern New York State and eastern Pennsylvania, along with the northern Middle Atlantic into new England. Today across the region will be cool with a breeze of 5-15 mph.

The surface chart also shows that stationary boundary set up from off the coast back down through Virginia. We have a few pc of energy moving along that boundary During a course of the day into tomorrow periods of rain will move through the region, rain will be heavy at times. The clearing that is currently over the Ohio valley Is going to slowly work through the region tonight and to tomorrow. As the coastal element  starts to pull North and east Heading towards the Gulf of Maine.

By tomorrow afternoon most of the region should be clearing up and drying out as the coastal continues to push away from the region; New England could still be dealing with some lingering rain and thunderstorms during the afternoon into the evening this will be especially true For Maine. Tomorrow will also still be breezy. As high pressure builds into the region for Sunday; Mother's Day will be sunny, milder and more importantly dry. winds on Mother's Day will also be much lighter; so it will feel quite nice outside.

For Monday high pressure will still be overhead, providing plenty of sun and mild conditions. Monday night into Tuesday the high pressure will start to drift away. This will allow a warm front to approach. With the front we will see increasing clouds and a chance for widespread isolated showers to move into the region from the southwest to northeast. Tuesday night and Wednesday we are going to see an area of low pressure move north and east away from the Southeast. It is unclear exactly how this is going to track, so for now we will call for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. But there is a potential for widespread rain and thunderstorms that will have the potential to be heavy at times. For now we just have to wait and see how things evolve. This trough is going to hang around for Thursday and Friday keeping things unsettled with a chance for scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms

For Tuesday night and Wednesday we will see an area of low pressure to the south Push out of the Southeast heading north and east, It is unclear at this time just exactly how this will track; but for now we will call for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the region. The potential is there for this to be more of a widespread moderate to heavy rain event. So for right now we just have to see how things evolve.

The pattern we've been in has been cool and very damp. But as the northern polar jet continues to push north, we should start running into more warmth moving forward over the next couple weeks. The pattern that is setting up won't have as much continuous rain events, as we've been seeing but we're still going to see rain events, sometimes these rain events will be locally heavy

Have a great weekend my next post will be on Monday.
