High pressure overhead keeping it cool and dry!

surface chart and radar

Today temperatures are running below average With most of the region seeing clear but dry conditions. We have an upper level low out in the gulf of Maine there is Tracking south and east. Between the high pressure just to our west and the upper level low we are dealing with a pressure gradient providing breezy conditions. This is especially true over Maine and eastern Massachusetts, where winds could gust as high as 40-50 mph at times today, For those in New York state Pennsylvania into western new England and Mid Atlantic Winds could gust as high as 30-35 mph at times. Radar is showing most of the region is dry, but we do have a few scattered showers wrapping around at upper level low dropping into Maine.

Satellite shows Most of the region is completely clear. But we do have clouds up over Maine. Winds will start to decrease tonight. But it's still going to remain breezy. Tomorrow As high as the upper level low continues to move away, the high pressure Is going to set up right overhead, Clouds across the region will be variable with the vast majority of the region staying dry for the entire day. Far western parts of the region could see a few Rain showers move in as early as Friday morning but these should be fairly light in nature. The rest of the region will see clouds increasing as the day goes on.

Saturday we are going to see low pressure developing over the Mississippi Valley this is going to end up tracking towards the Great Lakes, Expect to see quite a bit that of severe weather Across the Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley. As the leading warm front moves through the region setting up southernly winds allowing temperatures to become warmer. Just low pressure looks to get hung up for a bit over the great lakes for later Saturday and Sunday. Keeping the threat for rain showers over far western areas. A cold front staying in place For Sunday Increasing southern flow Will allow Temperatures to continue to increase leading to very mild conditions for this point in October.  Sunday night and Monday We'll see this area of low pressure Finally get up and start moving allowing that strong cold front to slide across the region, The cold front will bring gusty winds and widespread scattered rain showers  and some thunderstorms to the region for Monday. Some of these thunderstorms could be strong too severe. But right now the severe threat looks to be limited. So these strong storms if they develop should be fairly isolated.

Tuesday we'll see the first in a series of troughs and weak cold fronts work through the region These will bring the chance for a few rain showers right through at least  Thursday.
